We then had to wait for L&I to come do their inspection and the power company to install the second meter so that we would be connected into the grid. So, here we are now officially generating some of our own clean electricity through the help of the sun - Yay! We won't be generating the systems full capacity because part of the year, like right now, the sun is below the tree line. However we do generate some power on cloudy days this time of year because the clouds reflect the light down - cool, huh?
Between tax write offs, rebates, credits, etc; we expect to pay off our system in about five to six years. If you'd like to know more about solar you can contact South Sound Solar. Be sure to mention myself and Shawn because Shawn does get a commission for installed systems. Kirk Haffner is the owner of South Sound Solar and the business operates out of his family's property which happens to be just on the other side of Woodard Creek from us on Lemon Rd. Kirk is a really great guy. Honest, caring and really good to both his employees and customers.
I am proud to have solar on our home. I hope that more people look into making the initial investment for the long term payoffs that solar can provide.
